MISSION
Asian Human Services (AHS) exists to provide quality
and compassionate services to the Asian American community of metropolitan Chicago.
BACKGROUND The original vision of AHS, which was established in 1978 by a group of Asian community leaders, was
to serve the critical health care and social service needs of the growing Asian immigrant and refugee population living on
the north side of Chicago.
Over twenty-five years later,
this vision has remained relatively unchanged. However, AHS has continued to grow and expand its scope in response to
the growing size and needs of the community it serves.
Today, we stand as the only pan-Asian, nationally-accredited, Medicaid-certified social service agency in the
state of Illinois.

AHS is a nonprofit, 501c(3) social service
community-based organization staffed by experienced professionals including physicians, licensed clinical social workers,
licensed counselors, public health professionals, case workers, legal consultants, graduate student interns and dedicated
volunteers. AHS staff members, 70% of whom are of Asian ethnicity, speak 25 languages.
